Although Summer’s been here for a while, it’s never too late to talk about some products and things that are must haves… at least for me 😉
Here are the products and the whys:
- Sun lotion:
It has to be on top of my list. You should wear it ALL year long. I believe this is the one and only product that you shouldn’t do without. For my face, I like Neutogena’s Clear Face in the highest SPF I can find. Now, here’s the tricky part: you’re supposed to reapply sun lotion every three hours, if you’re spending the day outdoors of course. So, what’s going to happen with your full-face makeup? Well, to me the answer is simple, I try to go for a minimal makeup look. That way I don’t feel bad about reapplying. I do my eye makeup, use concealer in my under-eye area and dab a little more on my blemishes. If I want to add bronzer, highlighter, and blush, I then try to pat the sun lotion on my face, instead of spreading it with a wiping motion. Another trick is to use a spray, clear sun lotion for the reapplication. A good one is the Neutrogena® Ultra Sheer® Body Mist (although the instructions tell you not to spray directly into the face…)
- Waterproof mascara:
I know many people don’t like it. It’s just my opinion that waterproof mascara is a great way to be worry free all day, especially when you’re out and sweating. If you go to the pool, it will help. Yet it will probably still crumble under your eyes. I guess there’s no magical solution. My favorite mascara at the moment is Maybelline Lash Sensational in “Blackest Black”
- Bright, shimmery colors:
In the Summer I love wearing corals, rose gold, baby pinks, champagnes, mostly shimmery everything. I like to look glowy, dewy, radiant. Highlighter is another favorite.
Just like sun lotion is necessary to keep you safe from the damaging sun rays, so are sunglasses. Yes, we think of them as fashion statements. But in reality, you need them to protect your eyes. Don’t skip them if spending time under the sun. Also, make sure they actually filter the UV rays (read the sticker on the glass before you purchase them).
Make sure you stay hydrated. Need I say more? Your skin needs it. In fact, your whole body needs it. Ever been dehydrated? It’s no fun. Carrying a re-usable water bottle is a good idea.
- Body spray / fragrance mist:
A travel size scent should always be in your purse. If you feel your deodorant is failing you… you know what to do! I go for flowery or fresh scents. It should conceal any suspicious odors, but not be overwhelming. Just a touch of something 😉
- Baby wipes:
They are my best friends, my saviors! You can refresh in seconds and feel brand new. Use in combination with your body spray and you’ll be good to go.
What are your summer beauty essentials? Anything I should be adding to the list?
Hope you have a lovely summer. It’s my favorite season!
